A 2.9 magnitude earthquake struck near North Korea's northeastern county of Kilju, where the country's nuclear test site is located, on Wednesday, the South Korean weather agency said, determining it to be naturally occurring.
The earthquake was detected 43 kilometers northwest of Kilju at 9:43 a.m., with its epicenter at a latitude of 41.31 degrees north and a longitude of 129.13 degrees east at a depth of 29 kilometers, the Korea Meteorological Administration said.
The agency said the earthquake has been analyzed to be a natural one. (Yonhap)
